| The goinghomedotcom Trust: OUR NEEDS
|
If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost;
that is where they should be. Now put foundations under.
HENRY DAVID THOREAU
This initiative has been set up purely with the
goodwill of men and women who have had the courage to
share in my vision to not only help alcoholics and other
drug addicts but also to show Kenyan youth that
alcohol and other drugs are not so glamorous as they are
made out to be, but are actually a fast-moving highway to hell!
The goinghomedotcom Trust intends to show them how fun-filled life actually is without alcohol
and other drugs, to show the Kenyan youth that the choice is theirs - that if they want to use alcohol
they should at least know what it does to them and the consequences which come with ones' choice to use.
But to do this effectively at this fledgling stage we
still need these items listed below. We would be very
grateful for your help in acquiring these items. If
you feel you can help us in any way with these items
or would like to make a cash gift to assist towards buying them
please contact us at goinghomedotcom@yahoo.com
In 2001 when we first started out, this list was much longer than it is today. Thanks to numerous
well-wishers, five years down the line we have managed to reduce it considerably and the work
of "touching lives through inspiration" goes on.
Yours Sincerely,
David Ogot Snr
LIST OF NEEDS
- UPS's at least 1KVa
- Projector for presentations and workshops
- Laptop Computer Multimedia (with CD-ROM, diskette drive)
- High speed Scanner
- 35 mm Digital Camera 5.0 megapixels and above
- Heavy Duty Colour Printer
- Heavy Duty Photocopying machine
- The goinghomedotcom Video Production Unit (VPU)
has already made one highly acclaimed 40 minute production entitled "Nobody
Kicks A Dead Dog" on alcoholism and how to get help for ones afflicted
loved ones. But the cost of using rented equipment and editing suites was
prohibitive and to this end the final price of the video on the market is
higher than we would like it to be. This has reduced access to everybody who
needs it and this continues to be a source of great concern. To this end the
items below are to help us make our own productions which are also then subsidised
and thus affordable by the common man as well as being able to donate copies
to rehab centers and school clubs especially in the rural areas for their
awareness programmes.N.B.: We however continue to offer Beta copies to T.V Stations free
of charge and so far Citizen T.V has taken up the awareness
challenge by airing this production in December 2002 and then due to public demand January 2003. The documentary was then aired in December 2004 on the national station KBC Channel 1 and on STV in February 2005
In 2006 the documentary continued its succesful run being aired four times in all including on SAYARE TV. This offer is in line with our goal of reaching as wide an audience as possible with this crucial
message as well as The goinghomedotcom Trust's motto of "Touching
Lives Through Inspiration"
- Sony DSR PD 150P Video Camera or any of the Betacam Camera Formats (All should be PAL systems)

(PAL systems)
- Professional video camera tripod (Sachtler, Vinten etc)
- Mini-Disc mini CD recorder with microphone
- Audio Mixer (at least 10 channel and above with a master output)
- (Old novels, 'Readers Digests', etc for setting up
libraries in the existing rehabilitation centers and
less well-off schools in the rural areas to try and
ingrain reading culture and give them an alternative
to alcohol and drugs use.)
- Any books or magazines describing hobbies
- Videos (PAL) whether new or used and especially if
they have topics to do with alcohol dependency or drug

circulate to the rehab centers for the relaxation of
the clients. Some of these will also be placed in the goinghomedotcom Resource Center for use by members of the public
- Any literature dealing with alcohol dependency or
drug abuse. (i.e. pamphlets, books, journals etc.) These will also be placed in the goinghomedotcom Resource Center for use by members of the public
NB; All these items need not be new as long as they are in
good working condition, we will be extremely grateful. Help us to keep on "touching lives through inspiration."
