| REPORT THE DRUG HOTSPOTS |
|---|
Drug abuse has permeated all levels of Kenyan society to a level where we are about to implode if nothing is done.
But the ordinary Kenyan feels fear. Where do you report these drug hotspots for often law enforcement and other government functionaries are involved officials and indeed offer protection enabling these activities to continue. However as in any good community-policing initiative the Kenyan public have to cooperate with law enforcement to apprehend the corrupt on both sides i.e law-enforcement and civilians.
This forum has been created for ordinary citizens who are fed-up with the status quo and the all-pervading feeling of helplessness and resignation and want to turn the tide on drug abuse in their neighbourhoods.
It is the ordinary civilians who feel the pinch of drug abuse either through crime (robberies, rape,) or violence (domestic and other forms), watching your children loiter in the neighbourhood drinking alcohol and smoking bhang refusing to go to school instead using drugs the whole day, and watching helplessly their loved ones waste away and finally die.
Hotspots will be as the name implies a map of drug hotspots in Kenya. By pinpointing the exact location of where the drugs are (be they alcohol, licit or illict, bhang, miraa, heroin etc.) and the officer in charge who should take action, we feel there just might be a chance in turning the wave which so far is drowning thousands of Kenyans daily.
Through this forum every Kenyan will become a proactive campaigner in the community-policing effort against drugs and be able to do it annonymously and safely.
A sitemap is being set up for various towns which will then further be devided into constituenies eg for Nairobi, Westlands, Langata, Eastlands etc. so that targetting is precise.
The onus is now on you the Kenyan public to join in this community policing project against drugs for ultimately it is you who suffers, you who bears the brunt of drug use and drug peddling in your neighbourhoods. So it follows logically that it is you who should act! The time to act is now!!
